Kirsty Anna MacColl, born in Croydon, Surrey, England, UK on 10th October 1959, was a singer-songwriter who recorded several pop hits during the '80s - '90s, including There's a Guy Works Down the Chip Shop Swears He's Elvis & cover versions of Billy Bragg's A New England and The Kinks' Days. Kirsty's song They Don't Know was a hit for Tracey Ullman. MacColl also sang on recordings produced by her husband Steve Lillywhite, including Fairytale of New York by The Pogues. Her death on 18th December 2000 led to the Justice for Kirsty campaign.
