There comes a moment when a woman hits you right between the eyes and you can't help but stop and stare. And fuck me if that's not what happened when I went to pick up my son the first day of his afterschool program. My brand new kindergartner was looking up at a woman with hellfire and damnation in his eyes as he held another little boy's shirt in his tiny fist. The woman knelt to my son's level and spoke softly to him until his fist uncurled and released the other boy's shirt. Then she looked to the other little boy and gestured to a little girl who was crying softly behind the boys.
