king's x is not like all of the other bittersweet, infernal machine, drunken God, quest to save humanity, alternate anti-christ, car wreck dogs throughout history, magic sword, end of all existence... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book meant so many things to me reading it. Being a native of CA now living in NC I really appreciated the landmarks and references and the nostalgia theyh envoked. This story line made me laugh, it made me think about my own beliefs, it made me think about humanity, and the things we aren't suppose to...and it made me look forward to a good stiff drink myself. King's X displays the true genius and talent of the author. I was completely engaged in every word. I recommend this to everyone!
It's okay to laugh out loud

I had the good fortune of reading some of the Paul chronicles in short-story form years ago and I'm thrilled to see that the author has woven such a complete and wonderful story for them. He challenges the reader to contemplate life as we may not see it and offers us a humorous perspective on subjects we can take way too seriously. Savor the time it take to read, because the fun is over way too quickly!

I have to agree with the previous reviewers, I truly enjoyed this story and the charecters. It ran a gamut of emotions and was alternately silly and touching. Although I found a few sections confusing I was very happy with this book overall.

Poore truly has a unique and colorful voice, and his efforts with King's X reveals true talent. I've enjoyed Poore's stage plays in the Hollywood area over the years, and like his plays, this book was refreshing and didn't disappoint. I agree w/the last reviewer, there are definitely are some fun Vonnegut twists, and the writing has a new and exceptional spin for the reader. Enjoy!
My favorite book this year (so far)
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 20 years ago
This is my favorite book of the year so far. It is surprising, funny and throught provoking. It was recommended to me by a friend (on the author's mailing list) so I didn't really know what to expect but it was literate and very human. She told me it was a little quirky but knows I love Vonnegut so I think that was her way to get me to buy it. Silly, romantic, cynical and uplifting. I'm looking for more from the author.
