Book Overview

When a worthy ruler unites the Five Kingdoms, the dragons will return ...

As Queen of the Five Kingdoms, Fyia bows to no man, but she might have to if she wants to find the lost dragons and bring stability to her lands. Her search for the mythical dragon eggs leads her to the secretive court of the Black Hoods, but only a member of their royal family can retrieve the egg, and their mysterious King, Cal, refuses to help her.

Cal doesn't have time for a frivolous search for long lost dragons; his people are on the brink of collapse as his lands freeze. Unfortunately for him, his familiar, a stubborn bear used to getting her way, has bonded to the infuriating Queen and her wolves, leaving him with little choice but to teach her magic.

Fyia will do anything to retrieve the precious dragon egg, even swallow her pride and accept his help. But as she and Cal grow closer, she can't risk placing herself-and her people-in his dangerous hands.

She must figure out how to protect her heart and get the egg. An impossible task, but with the fate of two kingdoms in the balance, she can't afford to fail.

Action-packed from the start with twists and dangerous intrigue, Kingdoms of Shadow and Ash is book one in this complete, spicy romantasy duology featuring magic, strong women, and dragons. Perfect for fans of Rebecca Yarros, Jennifer L Armentrout, and Danielle L Jensen.

Kingdom of Shadow and Ash was a boring, slow-paced book with a jerky prose and a overall disappointm

This book promises fast paced adventure and politics, and fails to deliver on several accounts. Firstly, the book starts off in the middle of the Fyia’ conquest, making you feel like you’ve missed more than your fair share of her story. Secondly there was little to no world building in this book. By the Seventh Chapter I was still completely confused about why Fiya needed to find the dragons and who she would talk about to other characters. Names like “the Emperor”,”The Fae’ch”, and “Black Hoods”, meant little to nothing to me other than names of where she was going. Not only that, but the prose is very jerky and hard to follow along with. Just reading it for a few minutes made me feel exhausted like I had just run a marathon or completed a test I didn’t study for. Some characters would be introduced suddenly or talked about in passing without any background, and it threw me off more than once. And finally, there was no real fast action in here like the summary promises. Rather things play out very very slowly to the palace where I was waiting for things to happen and not enjoying myself at all. Overall this book was a huge disappointment and I would not recommend it to others.
