Addiction helps Spanish learning. This book will get you hooked.

My Spanish speaking and reading skills are fairly good, but I need to study more and to practice more. It gets to be drudgery to study textbooks. Reading great Spanish literature requires carrying a huge dictionary and can become too much like work to go through. This and "Ciudad de las Bestias" were just right for me. The descriptions and the characters where so real that I felt as if I were there. I grew to care about them. Isabelle Allende did her homework with these books and reading them felt nothing in the least like doing _my_ homework. I lost sleep at night because I had to find out what happened next. I won't tell you that.... you'll have to find it out the right way.

Fantástica genialidad. . .

La narrativa de Isabel Allende es genial: se adapta a cualquier género con fluidez y pleno dominio. Resultan impresionantes su capacidad y habilidad para utilizar los recursos literarios para convertir cualquier historia en una peculiar y única sin importar el tema. El tiempo que le dedica a la profunda investigación de todas las materias relacionadas con las historias que desarrolla le imprimen a su obra credibilidad dentro de cualquier mundo. Este libro es un ejemplo representativo de la versatilidad de Isabel Allende. Se lo recomiendo a todo aquel lector que como yo está acostumbrado a leer las obras más representativas de ésta dentro del género que le valió su merecido sitial literario.

La narrativa de Isabel Allende es espectacular. Es un libro fantasioso y de aventura que a medida que lees es como estar viendo una pelicula por la forma impresionante en que la autora pone a volar tu imaginacion

Isabel, lo hiciste otra vez!

Excelente lectura. No pude guardar el libro hasta terminarlo. Aunque este orientado hacia una audiencia juvenil, su lectura amena y sencilla, mantiene al publico adulto interesado. No puedo evitar reconocer un poco el trio de Harry Potter (Harry, Hermione y Ron) en Alexander (con espejuelos y todo), Nadia y el principe Dil Bahadur , todos y cada cual con sus capacidades psiquicas (magia?). La nota humoristica de la autora rompe con la seriedad del pensamiento budista sin faltarle el respeto. Creo que si el texto se estudiara en salon de clase formal podria ser de mucho provecho para modificar la perspectiva de la juventud occidental. Isabel Allende puede escribir lo que quiera y del tema que quiera porque ya ha adquirido la madurez (como mujer y como escritora) que se necesita para opinar sobre cualquier cosa, Bravo!

Great Book

The book Kingdom of the Golden Dragon is a fasinating book about greed and the values of some cultures. Kate Cold along with Alexander Cold and his friend Nadia go on a crazy adventure to recover a kingdom's lost, stolen, golden dragon. This dragon represents a country's history and way of life. The dragon is thought to have special furture seeing powers and a wealthy man is on a quest to get it and use it to better his worth. The way that Isabel combines fantasy with reality is really amazing. By the end of the book I was questioning whether Yetis could really exist and can people really reach a level of total mental control and have strange mental powers? This book is probably aimed more at the middle school students but for me as a junior in high school I believe it is an intersting read for all ages. This book that will grab you and take you on an adventure and I recommend it to all.
