The Call Beyond

The wind was loud that night, howling as if it carried whispers

from another world. Truth Depp lay restless, staring out her

window at the stars, a sense of longing pooling deep in her chest.

She didn't know what she was waiting for, only that something

was coming. The feeling was like standing on the edge of a vast

cliff, sensing the leap yet unsure of the landing.

Then, suddenly, it happened-a voice, a call that felt like it

came from within her and beyond her at once. It wasn't in

words exactly, but a resonant pull, a drawing toward something

vast and unknown.

She blinked, sitting up. The world around her seemed to

tremble, her surroundings blurring at the edges. She reached

out instinctively, though she had no idea for what, and her

fingertips met a strange, glowing light-a doorway, open and

pulsing with colors she had no names for, hues of emerald,

jasper, sapphire. It wasn't a door that should exist, certainly not

in her bedroom.
