H. Warner Munn's _King of the World's Edge_ (1966) is a sort of lost world fantasy novel that originally saw the light of day as a four-part serial in _Weird Tales_ way back in 1939. It is still a passable piece of entertainment today-- good popcorn and lemonade escapism. H. Warner Munn (1903-1981) was a friend of H.P. Lovecraft and Seabury Quinn. He was an author for _Weird Tales_ during the 1920s and the 1930s. The idea for an earlier novel, _The Werewolf of Pankert_ ( _WT_, 1925; 1958) originally came from a suggestion by Lovecraft. I am not sure how much HPL influenced this novel, but it seems to be written more in the tradition of that other _WT_ writer, Robert E. Howard. Arthurian and Roman heroes go sailing off to alien lands and encounter exotic people and strange monsters along the way. Passable (if somewhat old-fashioned) fun. The Ace paperback edition features a good cover and interior illustrations by Jack Gaughan.
