The illustrations in this particular retelling to this tale are certainly different. The gold-leaf, detailed pictures are wonderful to look at and quite eye catching. The story is well told and it enables the reader to open many discussions as to the good and evil of wealth and more importantly you may not always be pleased with what you wish for. The text fits the illustrations quite well. Their may not be enough action in some of the illustrations to attract the really small children but it is fun to have them closely examime each picture and see what they can find. Overall, this is a good edition.
