King Ink strolls into Town: The Birthday Party, Adelaide 1981

On a very hot weekend in 1981, The Birthday Party played in Adelaide (under their new name), it was also according to Mick Harvey the first time that Nick Cave painted his chest. I was there and photographed two of the four nights they played (24-25th January 1981). The photographs are accompanied by anecdotes and memoirs from the audience, support bands, Mick Harvey, Phill Calvert and Robert Brokenmouth.
