Three couples are enjoying a backyard barbecue. Ted, the host, is a nice guy, but his evasive and somewhat hostile answer to a simple question causes Penny to confront him. She is tired of the group saying "that's just Ted." As the group negotiates an uncomfortable situation, Ted's wife Lisa begins to cry. She shares with the group that she's tried to confront him, but he always manages to turn it around on her.
