Killing the Music, Vol. 1: Nirvana and Sublime

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Nirvana and Sublime were two of the biggest bands of the '90s, but both were snuffed out too soon. Nirvana's sound was pure Seattle grunge and it changed the landscape of popular music. When the band's debut album, "Nevermind," came out, it was unlike anything anybody had ever heard. The album spawned hits like "Smells Like Teen Spirit," "In Bloom," "Come as You Are," "Rape Me," "Lithium," and more and sold millions of copies. The band followed up with additional hits like "All Apologies" and "Heart Shaped Box." More music most definitely would have come out of Nirvana, but drug abusing front man of the band, Kurt Cobain, shot himself in the head - killing himself and the heart of Nirvana. Sublime was also a great band of the '90s. Their sound was a mash up of the sunny southern California brand of music that blended together elements of ska and reggae to make a new sound that became wildly popular. The band's second album generated massive hits like, "What I Got," "Santeria," "Wrong Way," "Don't Time," and more. But before Sublime could go on to make more amazing music, its lead singer, Bradley Nowell, died of a heroin overdose. Take a look inside this edition of "Killing the Music" to read all about two of the greatest bands of all time, their music, and what could have been.
