In a dystopian sci-fi future, residents of the floating Upper City are obsessed with the Killing Show: a broadcast death game in which contestants fight it out for fame, fortune, and freedom. Xia Tian is a criminal plucked from the Lower City who is forcibly conscripted to fill out this round's body count, and he finds himself paired into a team with Bai Jing'an-an ice-cold strategist with a mysterious past. Their fame grows along with their body count, and soon, they find themselves with an obsessive fanbase that considers Xia Tian to be humanity's new God of War.

But beneath the glitzy veneer, the Upper City has a much darker underbelly-and the rich, depraved elites who rule the world behind the scenes don't take kindly to Xia Tian challenging their control. Before long, Xia Tian and Bai Jing'an are dragged into a brewing revolution that's set to shake the very foundation of that city amidst the clouds.
