Readers will experience a glimpse into the lives of police officers and the good and challenging situations they faced. This is a real-life narrative about some of the experiences I had and the good fortune I felt to be able to play a small part in them. These chapters also illustrate how an officer can be pushed to the edge, pulled back and pushed again. The accumulating emotional load gets heavier as years pass and also reveals the elevated expectations we hoped for when we started, and then how they were methodically shredded by unusual experiences toward the end of our careers. During the course of my career, I had the privilege of working with hundreds of officers and the depicted events in this book are true life experiences that actually happened. Some of them involved me working alone or were things I experienced while working with other officers. Because of the sensitive nature of some of these incidents, and their potential for civil litigation, some are disguised to protect identities. Those events, as much as possible, were altered only in names, times, and locations. The overall facts of these incidents are as true as written reports depict, and memories could recall. My aim is to give readers a better understanding of the world of criminal justice as it existed during this writer's career that took place during the nineteen sixties, seventy's and eighty's. In some cases, it draws a comparison from our early days to today's much improved police practices. You won't be able to set this book down!
