Accurate description of the life of many teachers

As a teacher, I can tell you that things like this do happen to teachers, and it happens all over the country and frequently. I talked to Nachum Shifren personally by email (yes, he responded) and commiserated with him. I highly recommend his book, especially if you have the mistaken idea teachers are adequately (or over) paid, do little to earn what they are paid or simply just have it easy. Teachers are parents, too. They are also tax paying citizens and college educated, which SHOULD earn them a least a little respect from the people whose children they attempt to civilize, and the administration they are under and who in most cases, were where they are. Virtually NO other professional endures or would be willing to put up with what many teachers put up with to be employed. Firefighters and policemen know their lives will be at risk when they decide on those careers. Those who decide on a teaching degree simply have no clue they're entering a battlefield. It may not be the front lines, but it is well known now that PTSD is a result of seeing action in a war. And in an alarming number of documented cases, teaching has cost teachers their lives. Many thanks to this author for pointing out something people are not aware of or prefer to ignore.

Read it!

What more can I say? A brief, but well-written, insightful and truly disturbing look at what our corrupt left wing dictators have done to our school, particularly in "LOST" Angeles. The kids run the asylum, as we know---but we also now know, thanks to Rabbi Shifren, that parents, if they are of a certain race, can gain favoritism in the school...if the administrators are of a certain race, especially if the teacher is white and Jewish. The pendulum has swung too far. Being honest, conservative and hard working gets you nowhere these days. Those used to be American ideals. Read this book. Wake up and demand accountability and sanity from our public schools. America is a great place, and thanks to good leaders, our military, clergy and solid parenting, will remain so. It's our schools that will tear us down. The solutions are obvious: accountability, discipline, a REAL curriculum that celebrates American ideals and respect, and much else. The left, and their savior Mr. Obama, believes MORE $ to overpaid, underworked, clueless teachers is the key. Pity.

An important story of a teacher's struggle in the LAUSD

Rabbi Nachum Shifren exposes the bureaucratic stagnation that plauges the Los Angeles Unified School District. He documents instances of racism towards him, threats of violence, and the extreme application of PC politics. What is sad is that we have lost a talented teacher that truly cares about his students and actually brought standards and discipline to inner city schools.

Sobering reading

We now live in a world of Columbine-style school violence, on-campus gang violence, racial and sexual violence, and student-on-teacher violence that has made our schools (especially the inner city schools) more like correctional institutions focused on physical misbehavior control than institutions dedicated to learning. "Kill Your Teacher" is not a how-to manual for abusing classroom instructors. It is a warning to us all that inept and corrupt school administration policies are exacerbating the risks to the safety and learning environment of teachers and there students. Rabbi Nachum Shifren writes with the special expertise and first-hand knowledge gained from having been a Los Angeles public school teacher teaching Spanish at many of the inner city school districts since 1991. Exposing what he has witnessed with over virulent Black/Hispanic and Black/Anglo racism in the student bodies of these schools, "Kill Your Teacher" is sobering reading and will prove to be a substantial contribution to the national dialogue currently underway concerning issues of safety, race relations, and moral clarity with the context of our public school systems and administrative policies.
