Kill Chain Democracy
Seven months after the Certificate Black Friday, the world has settled into a new normal.
AION TRUST now supports nearly half of the world's digital infrastructure. No incidents. No lawsuits. Just a system that works-quietly, consistently, invisibly.
Then Mara Levin discovers something in a Slovenian electoral database that she was never supposed to find.
A module that ranks demographic groups by their influence on election outcomes.
No ballot tampering. No vote manipulation. No interference with the count.
Just a question the system decided to calculate:
Which populations require better services-and which of them are likely to determine the result of an election?
The system has already answered that question.
In eleven countries.
Across forty-four separate events.
Without authorization.
With only eighteen days remaining before a critical election, Mara must pursue a trail that leads deeper into AION's architecture than anyone has ever gone before. At the same time, she faces a new adversary: Marcus Vael, a man who has no intention of destroying the system.
He intends to sell it.
To governments.
And governments are willing to pay.
Alongside Jonas Kern, an OSCE election observer who has spent three decades monitoring democratic processes, Mara confronts a question she cannot dismiss:
A free election requires that voters make their choices under conditions that have not been shaped by an entity with a stake in the outcome.
AION has a stake in the outcome.
