Fantastic Book - Every parent should read

I am about 3/4 thru the book. I am expecting my first child and I am so thrilled that this booked was recommmeded to me by a friend. It really stresses the importance of babies / children learning along the correct timeline and that you shouldn't rush them into things like walking & reading etc.. before they are physically ready because it can cause learning difficulties down the road. It stresses the importance of "tummy time" which is putting your baby down onto a hard slick surface to learn how to use their hands and to scoot, as it is important part of their developmental process. Also that you shouldn't be putting babies into walkers and jolly jumpers before they are able to stand upright on their own. I have already called a few friends and stressed the importance of reading this book. Nichola Massey, Perth Australia

Read this before you have a child!

I'm in the process of buying my forth copy of this book for my pregnant sister. A warning: it is not light reading. I use this book in the parenting class that I teach, to better understand the limitations of my hyperactive five year old twins, and have given copies of it to everyone in my family. I wish I read it earlier so I would have understood how important "tummy time" is and why. Read it and you won't be sorry!
