The Tycoon Meets His Match.....

I enjoyed this book from the first chapter, very few books I have read by Cathy Williams has had me laughing from the first chapter and keeps you going through out the book. I loved the main characters Amy and Rafael. The saying "opposites attract is definitely a true statement when it comes to this pair. Amy is high spirited, blunt and just a joy to get to know. Nothing about her is the "typical harlequin heroine" she talks to much, laughs to loud and generally says whatever comes to mind she "speaks as she finds" and she is neither in awe or intimidated by the hero "Rafael" who is chalk to her cheese. Of course he is a "billionaire" handsome as all get out (like you would expect him to be anything else when it comes to "harlequin heroes"......I wonder how it would go down if the hero was dirt poor and not so appealing to look at....but that's a thought saved best for another time). All things being equal Rafael is neither your typical jet setting tycoon he's actually human and disposed to errors which you will see throughout the book and which Amy has no problems pointing out to him (lol) I found myself cheering for these two. There wasn't some elaborate blackmail plot, secret babies stashed away or any of that nonsense. Amy didn't exactly fall for Rafael at the on set because she had a major crush on his kid brother James who she finally comes to realized is as deep as a puddle of rain water, should he choose to stand in one, when it came to his choice in women. And that she wasn't his type and never would be, enters Rafael purely by accident, he and Amy don't hit it off the bicker like to old ladies and that's what's so funny he thinks everything about her is unsuitable over the top and not his ideal of any woman he would date. And she thinks he is an over opinionated, rude bore, but they strike sparks off each other the entire book and you start to see where a genuine relationship develops from friendship to love. The only draw back to this book is that Rafael lies to Amy initially about who he is and throughout most of the book she believes him to be a "gardener" but even the final discovery of who he really is, is handled by the author beautifully. Amy doesn't forgive Rafael's deceit despite the fact that she loves him, she actually walks away from him even after he comes clean and then later realizes that her pride is no substitute for the man she loves, but by that time Rafael hurt and angry at himself as well as Amy tries miserably to patch up a broken relationship with an ex who he no longer cared for. Amy not knowing this at the time tries to win her man back, but once she finds out that he has went back to his ex, handles it rather well no melodramatics, she wishes him all the best even though its breaking her heart to do so. In the end the both realize they have let their pride get in the way of a really good thing and of course like any harlequin novelette worth its salt they live "happily ever after" I recommend this book as a k
