What A Rockin' Book!

I found this novel, documenting the trials and tribulations of a fledgling rock band as they struggle within a constrictive small-town environment to be extreemly funny, realistic and psychologically astute. Anyone who is familiar with garage-type rock bands and the obstacles they face in trying to play original music will identify with the band Desperate Living and its members. For those not familiar with the milieu, this book opens a window onto a world not usually examined in mainstream culture, despite the fact that so many young people devote their hearts and souls to it. Its a unique and entertaining slice of underground American culture, full of drama, humor and good old in-your-face rock-n-roll.
