Keith feels different to the other cats, who don't like to wash in bird baths or nap in the branches of trees. He begins to wonder if he actually is a cat. He's always felt more comfortable when surrounded by pigeons, and he envies their way of life. But when he tries to join them, the birds see him as a cat and keep their distance. Is he a cat or a pigeon? Will he manage to find a way to be himself?
Keith is a cat who feels more relatable to pigeons. He climbs the tree to spend time with them but isn't accepted. He is only able to be part of their club when he dresses as a pigeon. In the end they accept him and say "you aren't a pigeon. You aren't a cat. You are Keith." I'm sorry but Keith IS a cat. This book felt like a grooming book where it's encouraging children to deny their original identity and claim something else. We can be proud in the original identity we were born!
