Keepers of Elyon And the Eternal Flame: The Eternal Flame

Using the eyes of it's Keeper, the flame chooses who it will burn and who it will heal. The flame sees beyond what we as mere humans see and will react with or without it's Keeper's consent. And the Keeper is force to carry the burdens this flame has, whether from the flame itself or from those seeking to use it for themselves. But Coda Theodore Wolf, Second Prince of the Northern Kingdom never imagined it would be one of his best friends that would be one of those who sought after his curse and cause his nightmare to only get worse.

What others have said about Keepers of Elyon.

"You could say Coda Theodore Wolf is having all the fun a boy his age could ever wish for. He watches a match between man and monster and even takes time jotting down notes. He knows the palace like he does the back of his hand more than the king himself. Interestingly he has a private tutor Sir Randal. Friends are also plenty for this young second prince and he would let the servant kids see his lessons which may get him into trouble not only with Sir Randal but also with his father. Nevertheless that hunk of a metal won on the head by the person atop the throne causes a rift in the kingdom and soon enough the king runs for safety leaving the royal family at the mercy of the enemy who catches everyone off guard. As for Coda it is time to live to fight another day; thus he is smuggled out of the kingdom by the Orphan wagon. And what does our hero learn or acquire from the coup? Well it turns out Coda has power that he now harnesses which worries Count Bastion. Speaking of Bastion he also has a lot on his plate seeing as not everyone in the kingdom agrees with his agenda. A captivating cover a gripping opening an engaging middle and a satisfying conclusion that ties up loose ends are the hallmarks of a great book. So where does C.M. Dobbs Keepers of Elyon: And the Eternal Flame fit in? To answer this let us begin with the beginning. Here the reader meets Coda in his happy moments. This intro is such a hook for it holds the readers attention aside from immersing them into the story. So yes I got hooked. Regarding the middle Keepers of Elyon is one that introduces the inciting incident earlier enough and further burrows the reader into the books middle where there are intriguing incidents sword fights and alliances. More importantly the ties that bind the royal families unfasten exposing buried secrets. To put it simply both Coda Jolene and Wilfride come to terms with what their fathers did the impact of which necessitated the present conflict. Coda only regrets that he turned a blind eye to his fathers evil deeds when he should not have. On the other hand Jolene realizes her late father Codas and her uncle are no different from each other. The ending is also impressive as it addresses the questions readers may have throughout the story such as: Will Count Bastion ever succeed? Will Coda and Jolene ever restore their friendship? Who will ultimately sit on the throne? Moreover it is a brilliantly executed cliffhanger for the next book. Yes the book's length of five hundred pages may seem intimidating but fantasy fans who appreciate long reads should definitely give this one a try. It reads somewhat like George Martins 'Game of Thrones' but with young adult characters on the lead. -
