Kat Carson and Ernie Lunt are an odd pairing. Ernie is an irascible, middle-aged private detective. Kat is his teenage intern, a college student with a love of nineteenth-century detective novels and a bag of surprisingly useful children's toys. When Kat's investigation leads her to a local antique shop, she finds unexpected romance with Will Stanley, the handsome, appealingly mysterious shop owner. Kat is smitten but still has a job to do. She knows she's on the right track. She must be: someone is trying to kill her. The game, as Holmes might say, is most definitely afoot.
