The cataloguing of the 1,067 manuscripts (700 medieval) of the University of Innsbruck Library was unsatisfactory until now. Through the organization of the catalogue by call number, Volume 4 also offers a colourful picture, both formally and with regard to its contents. In addition to several important illuminated manuscripts (for example, Cod. 301-, the Schnalser Evangelistar, Cod. 325, Martial with Florentine illuminations, Cod. 330, Roman Psalterium), theological handbooks from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries that include unedited collections of sermons, scholastic works and excerpts stand out. Several codices with grammars deserve special note, as well as a collection of imperial-papal correspondence, as yet unknown in this form (Cod. 400). It was possible to identify the authors of many hitherto anonymous manuscripts.
