This book's methodology helped me boost my score over 100 points into the 700's. Practice sections and exams are good (harder than the real thing both on the quant and verbal,) but is the methodology that makes the book (CD) worth it.I prepared with Powerprep, Princenton Review GMAT Diagnostic and Kaplan. While the former two helped me practice, Kaplan was clearly the best of them all.Take Kaplan's methodology seriously and don't get bogged down by the scores you'll get on the practice tests. You'll see that you do great on the real thing.
An Excellent Way to Prepare for the GMAT

The book and CD-ROM goes step by step through all the different types of verbal and math problems and points out things to look for. The practice tests in the book and on the CD-ROM helped me out a lot. They are definitely harder than the questions on the actual test - at least for the math section. The tests on the CD-ROM do a good job preparing you for the format of the CAT test. Overall this book definitely was a great tool to have and I recommend it to everyone.
The CD-ROM is definitely worth it.

Kaplan's GMAT CAT is definitely one of its kind. None comes close to be this hard and it is worth every penny. There are three sets of practice CAT on the CD-ROM. I took each set twice. It preps me up for the real CAT. And in the end, I got the score of 700. I strongly recommend this product to anyone serious. It's much harder but it prepares you for the real thing.
Worked for me

I've never tested well, so I got a bunch of books and the Kaplan one was clearly the class of the bunch. It's clear, well-written, and yeah, it's a little corny, but it got me a better score. The software loads easily and works just like the real test, so when I got to the test center I felt like I'd been there before. For the money, a good value.
Excellent but math is hard.

I think that it is a good book overall. The key is the CD. (However, I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewer who said the car thing was cheesy - boy, did I ever get sick of the music.) You should practice as much as possible on the computer and build stamina, etc. The math questions on the 3 full-length GMATS are ludicrously difficult, but after you've done them, you are ready for the the real GMAT math portion. The verbal seems pretty comparable with the real deal. The explanations are good, as are the shorter math and verbal practice sets. I recommend doing this and power prep (from the test adminitrators) for a total of 5 tests. For a frame of reference, I scored over 100 points higher (actualy 140) on the real GMAT than my average on the three Kaplan tests. Good luck!
