A Good Test Prep To Sharpen Your Testing Skills

ACT tests aren't just for high school aged kids, because anyone entering college will need an ACT to get started. You can take the ACT test as many times as you like, and keep your best score. Since ACT tests are scheduled only a few times per year; usually in spring, summer and fall, then acquiring and using a study guide like Kaplan works tremendously to keep the student focused on the test ahead. This hefty Kaplan ACT 2010 Premier edition book includes 6 practice tests, detailed answer explanations, proven score-raising strategies, video mini-lessons, and gives you access to more practice test questions online. I have used Kaplan and Saunders study guides to study for important tests in the past. Kaplan offers some test strategies in this book. You need to know how to take tests; there is an art and skill to it. With sharpened skills in basics : English, Math; Reading; Science and the optional Writing test, you learn how to use this knowledge and add test-taking skills and score high on your ACT test. This book goes over the basics. And by taking these practice tests and reviewing your scores, the student will learn which areas are weak to them, and can focus on learning in those areas. The student scheduled for an ACT test or other test like the ACT (NCLEX for example) has so many months before the test, to prepare fully. About 6 weeks is the best time-frame, in my experience. Start by reading through the book lightly. Take practice tests and see how you score. Focus on learning in your weak areas and test again. Practice test questions everyday, and study strategies in test taking intermittently with practice tests. Spend an hour or two a day preparing for the test. About two weeks before the test, bump up your practice tests. Fine tune your weak areas and build confidence in yourself. The day before the test, do not study. Eat well, relax and try not to sweat the test. You have prepared all you can and what you do not know, and there will be things on the test you probably won't know, will not hurt you know. Do not drink or party the night before the test. (ACT tests are usually scheduled at 8 a.m. on Saturday mornings and last up to 4 hours.) Get a good nights rest and eat a light breakfast before you go to the test site. Lay out items you are required to bring with you: the testing confirmation, I.D., approved calculator, and several sharpened pencils. They will give you scratch paper at the test site. Relax and do your best! If you have put in the effort and used this study guide - your results should be favorable. If not, reschedule to take the test again and start over. Overall, I recommend this Kaplan ACT 2010 study guide to anyone taking the ACT test.

Son loved using this study book

My son used this to study and for the practice tests. He felt it was laid out in a fashion that kept him interested. He also like the hints the book provides. He did 3 of the practice tests and left 3 for the next time he takes it.

Good study guide!

I am a high school student who is getting ready to take the ACT for the first time in a couple months. This book has really helped me get a feel for the sections on the ACT as well as what my weakest spots are. Kaplan's ACT 2008 is easy to understand and even enjoyable - I recommend it!

Kaplan ACT
