Kanaklata The Girl with Long Hair

It is a biographical novel based on Martyr, Kanaklata Barua and cotemporary History of Assam. Kanaklata Barua was only 17 years when she was shot dead from point blank range on 20th September, 1942 by British Police in front of Gohpur police station. As a part of Quit India movement of India, she was leading a peaceful procession to hoist tricolour at Gohpur Police station removing British flag to end British Raj in India symbolically. As a mark of respect of her supreme sacrifice, 'Martyr Day' has been observed by the Government of Assam on 20th September on each year after India regained her independence. Many institutions have been named after her and one INS has also been named by Government of India as a gratitude towards the martyr for her supreme sacrifice for our motherland.
