History of the Kallitype and Brown Print Processes, Variants

This is a fascinating study of not just the how, but the whys of interest in the variants of the iron-silver processes. Popular for for some decades, these processes were often mired in complexity and murky results. Their popularity waxed and waned over time, falling out of favor for about sixty years until the 1970's when renewed interest began a revival just as film photography began to be replaced by digital imaging techniques. This is not a how-to text. Technical details of the kallitype and brown print can be found online and in many other books.
