He and his friends had to fight off gangs, plagues, and traitors in their own group of families. Life was very hard for them right after the war, they had to rebuild their lives. Terry is Justin's great-great-great-great-grandson, 100 hundreds after the war. Justin's journal has been handed down from father to son so Justin's story and history survives. Terry is young, he's 15, but considered an adult. He is trying to juggle his new life as an adult and read from the journal, he learns how Justin's life impacted his. The journal tells an interesting story of life after the devastating war and what's been rebuilt 100 years later. It does go back and forth, the font is different from each to make it easy to recognize which story is being told.
