THis is a wonderful little story about being content and happy and getting along. A boy finds a crystal that grants him one wish, but the boy can't decide what wish to make, because his village is a happy place and life is good there, so he keeps thinking about what to wish for. Finally, someone spies on him in the woods and sees that he has a crystal. While the boy sleeps, the other boy steals the crystal, and as soon as he gets it, he is granted one wish. He takes it back to the village, where all the villagers grab the crystal and get a wish and they all wish for riches and material things, but they begin to fight and become unhappy. Finally, they ask the boy what he wished for, and the boy had not used his with yet, so he wishes for the village to return to to the way it had been, when life had been simple and everyone got along and was happy together. The illustrations are really cute in this book, and the moral of the story is great. I collect fairy tale books and children's illustrated books, and I really love this book.
