The feminist and the veterinarian

Veterinarian Max Wiley is rudely awakened from a dream about a half-nude angel by a woman who seems to be the incarnation of his dream. A gorgeous, blonde, barefoot woman, clad only in an almost transparent nightgown, is pounding at his door. When he opens the door, she begs him to help her, because she thinks she's killed Henry! Since Max has a nighttime job of writing best-selling hard-boiled sexist crime fiction novels, one can only imagine what thoughts cross his mind ... With this tempestuous introduction, Max and the woman, his neighbor, Angel Brewster, get off to a passionate start on their relationship. But can Angel, the feminist magazine writer, and Max, the sexist crime fiction writer, find common ground to sustain a long-term relationship? If you want something funny and hot to take with you to the beach, this is the book you need! The action is non-stop, as is the dialog. The slapstick comedy is so well done that I laughed from cover to cover. The characters of Max and Angel are most engaging, although each has a fatal flaw that almost prevents them from resolving their differences. It is a good thing their characters are so likeable, since this is virtually a two-actor play, and Max and Angel carry ninety percent of the action. However, when the secondary characters can shoulder the two main protagonists aside, you'll find that they are enjoyable and funny, too. In spite of the personality conflicts, it is obvious that opposites do attract in this story, because it has some of the hottest male/female sex scenes I've seen recently. Just like a Dame is an enjoyable read filled with hot sex, comedic relief and a great romance.

Max Wiley is a veterinarian with a side job of writing crime novels. New in the neighborhood, he is shocked to be woken up early one morning by a woman ranting about something. It takes a little while, but he finally realizes the ranting "crazy" woman at his door is his neighbor, Angel Brewster, and she's come to get help from him for her dog. Sparks fly after Max takes care of Angel's dog and the two can't keep their hands off each other. They start something but can't get along much outside of the bedroom and think that maybe they are just too different for things to work. When Angel discovers Max is a writer of some of the crime novels that go against her feminist beliefs, she thinks it best to break things off but she can't get him out of her head or heart. Just like a Dame is a witty tale of Love at first sight. Ms. Dobbs perfectly blended the hot sex scenes with some serious, and other times hilarious moments in between. Max and Angel steamed up the pages as seamlessly as they nearly brought me to tears with laughter during their little spats. The implementation of Angel's family at the end is wonderful; I adored each of her siblings and their reactions to her situation. It was wonderful when both Angel and Max admitted that they needed each other, no matter what the differences between them were.
