This book follows the memories of Miroslav (Mirek) Kolias and his family from 1945 Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and immigration through Austria into the United States. His life recalls living under Nazi and Soviet regimes, including the imprisonment of his mother and father for political dissension. Ultimately, many of his family immigrated to various parts of the world, including Canada and Australia. Mirek chose California where he had employment opportunities with people whom after WWII were helped out of Czechoslovakia by his mother. He wrote this book for his daughter and grandchildren, and hopes others enjoy reading his story.
