Jury Verdicts is about juries. Verdicts are reported as to trial results. This book is about a retrial of a verdict. It is in a TV gameshow setting and involves the show's creator, Michael Perry, and his screenplay based upon a jury verdict. The pilot episode involves 6 contestant/jurors trying to win $200,000 by sitting in the jury box and trying to arrive at the same verdict as the jury in the litigated civil trial. Jury Verdicts takes the reader through the steps of selecting the panel as well as the trial and jury deliberations. The mystery aspects of JV are twofold, i.e., the overriding suspense of whether jurors will make the same choice as the prior verdict and go on to hear the second trial (for$300K), and the interests of one juror who "slept" her way onto the show. Michael Perry is a retired lawyer whose experience in criminal and civil trials is evidenced in JV. His actual experience of creating the screenplay is an interesting read, the recreated story of legal malpractice suffered by a software engineer.
