Junkyard Dogs: And William Shakespeare

A completely original marriage of Shakespearian quotes with dog photography in which all the photos were made in junkyards across the country. These junkyard dogs, some mean and nasty, some warm and cuddly, give Shakespeare a new accessibility . . . a Shakespearian dog noir. Over 100 photos in color and b&w.

A great read for poets and dog-lovers!

A truly creative portrayal of Shakespearean poetry. Its unique depiction of canine is absolutely captivating!

Shakespeare and Dogs ?

Shakespeare Shakespeare Shakespeare and Junk Yard Dogs. Who would ever think to put the two of them together. Mark LaMonica did, thats who. Mr. Lamonica is a pure genius. I have been reading Shakespeare for about 5 years now. This is the most enjoyable book which includes Shakespeare. I am from Mr. LaMonica's home town of Brooklyn, NY. Besides Coney Island and "The Silver Hurst," Mr. LaMonica is one of the best things to "come outta" Brooklyn. I hope to see more of Mr. LaMonica's work as shown in the synopsis.

The Bard and the Junkyard Dog

"Ye who loves dogs and life and Shakespeare (or any one of those) may also feel fondness for a small book of photos that combines all three in a really original way. It's photographer/sculptor Mark Lamonica's tribute to an unsung part of Americana:junkyards and the valiant beasts who guard them." Los Angeles Times, December 28,1997

A must have book!

A timeless collection for any dog lover. Very clever work. Be careful, you might learn a thing or two about the Bard. A great introduction for children into the world Shakespeare.

"On The Road," with Bad, Bad Junkyard Dogs.

Street wise photographer, Mark Lamonica, hits to road with color film and Nikon to immortalize the guard dogs of the auto nether world. Quotes from the various works of a Mr. Shakespeare from England verbalize thoughts that may or may not be in the heads of these canines. A million dogs in a million junk yards "could" eventually write all the works of The Bard. A nifty coffee table book in full color with witty asides by a worthy playwright. Originality at a more than fair price. BOB STANE
