Junkers Ju 287: Report 1944: Messungen am Modell Ju 287 [German]

This publication is a reprint of a secret report from the Junkers company from August 1944 to the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM). After the design of the Junkers Ju 287 changed from two engines at the fuselage sides plus twin nacelles under each wing to a triple engine cluster under the wings, the Junkers design office needs a forecast of the aircraft's flight characteristics. A large model of 1:4.5 scale was examined in the company's wind-tunnel at Dessau. It has a span of 4310 mm. The engines were fitted with small electric motors to simulate the engine's exhaust. The Ju 287 showed an overall stable flight at examined attitudes. The exhaust of the triple jet cluster could cause some slight instability at small flight angles. Not much trimming would be needed when changing the power setting for the engines. This unique piece of aviation history comes with 50 pages, lots of diagrams and drawings of the wind-tunnel model. This is the second out of a series of reprinted secret reports on the Ju 287 and is an accompanying document to a publication on the history of the Junkers Ju 287. Please note: The eBook version for Kindle is formatted as "Print Replica" in the same layout as the print version and is not optimally formatted for the Kindle reader.
