June Whitfield: Absolutely Fabulous!

Dame June Rosemary Whitfield DBE, born on 11th November 1925, Streatham, London, England, UK, was a radio, TV and film actress. Her big break was a lead role in the BBC Light Programme radio comedy, Take It from Here, during 1953. Television parts soon followed, including appearances with Tony Hancock throughout his TV career. Whitfield played the lead role in the TV sitcom Beggar My Neighbour in 1966, which ran for 3 series. She also appeared in 4 Carry On films: Nurse (1959), Abroad (1972), Girls (1973) and Columbus (1992).
