Readers will find, in the Appendix of this book, scans of a cover letter written by Satsvarupa Maharaja to the GN Press typist at the time, along with some of the original handwritten pages of June Bug . Together, these help to illustrate the process used by Maharaja when writing his books during this period. These were timed books, in the sense that a distinct time period was allotted for the writing, during SDG's travels as a visiting sannyasi . The original manuscript was handwritten in fountain pen on yellow notepads (to reduce glare), with the drawings included on the pages where they were intended to be placed in the text. Some of these illustrations are drawn directly onto the notebook page, while others are drawn on pieces of plain paper and then cut out and stuck onto the page. Having completed the handwritten pages, SDG would then read them out loud while recording his speech on a Dictaphone, and then send the handwritten pages and Dictaphone recordings to members of his Book Production Team. As he was recording the narrative of the book, Maharaja would indicate where in the text each picture should be placed. The pictures would be scanned and added to the typed manuscript. This process facilitated the free-writing approach utilized by SDG, and enabled him to produce large quantities of Ka conscious books in a relatively short amount of time. Many of these books were only printed in very small numbers for his own use. This was the case with all ten of the books in this series of Satsvarupa Maharaja's 1996 Prabhupada Centennial Year writings. These books are now being republished as part of the SDG Legacy Project, and made available to interested readers and scholars of contemporary Vaiava literature.
