The title character, Jumper, is a young basset hound ready for adventure. When Jumper's best friend must go to San Francisco without her, Jumper embarks on her own quest to San Francisco to reunite with her friend.

Jumper may be a small pup in a big city, but she is brave and ready to explore. With guts, guile, and a little help from a friendly sea lion, Jumper might be able to find her friend in the big city. While travelling, Jumper learns to navigate an airport, catch a train, read a map, and ask for directions.
