Known for shedding light on the link between the courts, public policy, and the political environment, the new ninth edition of Robert A. Carp, Ronald Stidham, and Kenneth L. Manning′s Judicial Process in America provides a comprehensive overview of the American judiciary. Considering the courts from every level, the authors thoroughly cover judges, lawyers, litigants, and the variables at play in judicial decision making. This remarkably current revision will only solidify the book′s position as the standard-bearer in the field. As with previous editions, students and professors will appreciate the annotated U.S. Constitution located in the appendix.
I hate law stuff and was forced to get it for class. I actually learned a lot of stuff through this book. Pretty good!
excellent undergraduate text

Carp et al's book, "Judicial Process in America" is an excellent undergraduate text that describes the state and federal courts, the players, processes, and history. It is very well written, concise, and clear. As the seventh edition, it is somewhat of a stalwart in helping individuals to better understand the judicial processes. i would have liked to see a chapter comparing american judicial processes to those of other nations. i also would have liked to see a chapter on strengths, weaknesses, and upcoming changes (e.g., specialization courts - drug and mental health) ... overall, this is an excellent read and is highly recommended for undergraduate students and perhaps as a reference for individuals who serve or wish to better understand the judicial system.
