Writing a successful suspense novel requires a lot more than good story-telling. In this gripping, elegantly crafted tale, Mississippi writer Joe Lee puts all of his enviable skills together to create a powerhouse exploration of high school football in a small Southern town - and all the unexpected problems and strange obsessions that can come with it. It's obvious that the author researched the story's pivot points thoroughly before putting pen to paper or striking the keys. His lean, highly descriptive narrative never gets in the way of a great story and allows the reader to feel the characters' emotions as they gain momentum and steer into new and frightening directions. And at the end, there are no loose ends, no unexplained ventures into wayward territory, just the readers' full satisfaction that comes from a thrilling story told in just the right way. In the interest of disclosure, I was an acquaintance and colleague of Joe's many years ago. After reading Judgment Day, I'm even more proud of his efforts and our association and look forward to reading his future works.
Judgment Day

Wish I could think of a word that had more impact than stupendous, because this latest work by Joe Lee certainly deserves such an accolade. I've read Joe's first two books and couldn't put them down, but he truly has outdone himself on Judgment Day. From the very first page, I couldn't wait to get to the next page and yet, at the same time, I was almost afraid to turn that page because the suspense and conflict were so real, so three-dimensional. You literally feel the characters breathe off the page and the situations and the plot have so much integrity. You realize repeatedly "This really could have happened!" Joe Lee is destined to become one of the literary names synonymous with Mississippi. GREAT JOB, Joe. What next?
Brilliant

Joe Lee really makes the characters come to life in this novel. I think it is his best work to date. From the first paragraph, I was able to picture every detail in my head as I followed the story. I couldn't put it down. The character of Bud Crisler could have been any coach from any high school. I found myself sympathizing with him one minute and hoping he would get caught the next. Each character is three dimensional thanks to Joe's keen way of describing them down to the smallest detail. I don't know what Joe's plan may be for his next novel, but I could easily see a sequel to this one based on my favorite character, Gina. This could become a best seller. Brilliant.
