It began with a personal search for salvation in the early days of the Covid years. A time of reflection during endless periods of Lockdown, the sun shone and our lawn became a recreational badminton court. A time of extremes and mixed emotions, carefree idling during daylight and dark thoughts at night. A sense of isolation deepened by an increasing conviction that to those charged with the governance of these Lands democracy was no more than a byword, nor were we as a People in this together. I was in desperate need of therapy. My salvation lay in the pen not sword. The J.O.L. chronicles ongoing observations, fears and despair in a form of verse I call Toems.
