Judas Priest are a heavy metal band formed in 1969, West Bromwich, West Midlands, England, UK. The band have sold over 50 million copies of their albums to date, frequently being ranked as one of the greatest metal bands of all time. Despite an innovative and pioneering body of work in the latter half of the 1970s, they struggled with indifferent record production and repeated changes of drummer. Major commercial success or attention eluded them until 1980, when they developed a simplified sound on the album British Steel, which helped elevate the group to rock superstar status.
