the Bible revealed

Professor Shlomo Grafstein has research over two decades the book of Genesis. In his unique approach, he has synthesized the Midrash and Talmud with the the text to arrive at an expanded translation. His work is written with much clarity having Dr. Victoria Rosenberg (Professor of English at Dalhousie University) review and assist in revisions. There is the iceberg effect of "much more beneath the surface" coming up into the translation. In addition there are numerous source materials which clarity the origins of this unique text. Plus there are many many ideas, including original thoughts of Torah (250-300) in the footnotes.I highly recommend this work for anyone interested in truly understanding the Bible as the Hebrews have for over 3000 years.

Revealing deeper wisdom from The Book of Genesis

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw JUDAISM's BIBLE a new and expanded translation in print. The author had been working on his research for over 20 years, (part-time). What is amazing is his ability to extract from the wisdom of Rashi and Midrash and synthecize the main thoughts with the Biblical text to form a new and expanded translation in clear colloquial language. In addition to the expanded translation, Professor Grafstein (former instructor in the classics department at Pennsylavania State University), has extracted pertinent Biblical exegesis which made his work relevant for the 21 century. This includes not only historical matters, such as aviation sitings of the lost ark on Mount Ararat, but also present-day applications to the Jewish People's right to their homeland, Israel. This book has won the Canadian Jewish book award for the year 2000 for Biblical Scholarship. In addition the author, after having delved into the depths of Jewish Biblical research, has included original Torah thoughts of his own which are not found in any other source. This he bases upon Talmudic and Jewish Law extrapolations. Rabbi Grafstein lists his (approximate) 350 Torah thoughts as "original". I highly recommend this book for anyone who really wants to understand the book of Genesis from a spiritual perspective. In addition, there is an extensive introduction with elaborations on what is The Torah and The Divine Oral Tradition. The Biblical Text has numerous footnotes which give the reader not only sources but many relevant Torah ideas from classical Jewish sources. This book is a must not only for teachers of Genesis but for the learners.
