Juan Sin Nombre / Juan with No Name [Spanish]

By Diego Gomez Pickering

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

The conquest of Mexico cannot be understood without the enigmatic figure of Juan Garrido, one of the first Africans to set foot on the American continent and who fought alongside Hern n Cort s in decisive episodes such as La Noche Triste. Despite this, his name barely appears in history books.

Juan with No Name rescues his voice and intertwines it with the story of Mar a and El Negro, a young couple consisting of an anthropologist and an archaeologist, who in a dystopian Mexico--ruled by a regime that has erased all traces of miscegenation from its national narrative--embark on a dangerous investigation that will lead them to discover the truth about the roots of blackness in the country, confronting a state that forgives no one.

With a pen that masterfully combines historical rigor with the power of fiction, Diego G mez Pikering constructs a narrative that not only captivates and intrigues, but also challenges the foundations of our country's collective memory and leaves a question echoing on every page: what stories have we forgotten and why?
