A sound guide to basic scrapping.

If you are in the market for a beginner's guide to scrapbooking, then in my opinion, you have come to the zenith of the craft in finding this book! Although I never have the patience or time to create as involved and perfect looking layouts as I see in the Creating Keepsakes magazines and books, I always look to them for the newest techniques and supplies. I've become quite adept at "scraplifting" and modifying layouts by my favorite artists (including Becky Higgins and Heidi Swapp.) This particular book will take you through the basics...supplies, journaling, layout, etc...all with Lisa Bearnson's friendly instruction. It basically takes your hand and walks you through the overwhelming task of beginning scrapbooking so that you can start out with a strong foundation of USEFUL knowledge. It may also help to prevent you from buying a lot of things that you won't necessarily use right off the bat...and may also prevent you from making a few of the mistakes that I now cringe at when I look at my early pages. For clear, simple instruction on scrapbooking basics, this book can't be beat!

I call it the Bible of scrapbooking

There aren't a lot of scrapbook stores near me that I can take classes at. I subscribe to the magazine and learned everything about scrapbooking from it. This book combines everything from all the magazines into one book that makes it an essential tool for any beginning scrapbooker. It can get very confusing with all of the different materials available and I found this book very useful in explaining everything. I highly recommend it!

very informative about scrapbooking,organizing,taking photos

I am fairly new at scrapbooking and I found alot of good ideas for choosing colors for layouts, organizing photos and supplies, designing layouts etc. I thought is was helpful to have hints on taking photos specifically for your scrapbook theme. I found the Joy of Scrapbooking to be very informative with technical and creative ideas that I actually like and can incorporate into my own style of scrapbooking.

The ultimate guide to scrapbooking!

Although I have been scrapbooking for several years and buy many books on the subject, this book has surpassed all the others. Not only does it tell you all the details, how to scrapbook to perserve photographs and what to use to keep them safe, it also has great page ideas. This is a must for all the scrapbooking fanatics out there!

Thoughtful tips on everything from better photos to meaningful journaling for my scrapbook. I've added post-its to 14 places in Joy of Scrapbooking that I keep turning to. My sister-in-law loved it when I presented a copy to her for her birthday.
