In the United States, Thanksgiving is a day that brings together family, loved ones, and even strangers, into a gathering that typically involves a shared meal, a banquet of sorts. It is a special day marked by joy from seeing loved ones and, in general, people coming together to share, not just a meal, but a conversation--life. But in my estimation, Thanksgiving should not be relegated to a once in a year occasion. I believe we have reasons to be thankful always. We ought to give thanks to God for Who He is and His hand in and on our lives. Even in the most trying and difficult of situations, there is something one can be thankful for. This 30 day journey is for every individual to increase in their level of joy and gratitude. It is easy to look at the negative--very easy. But how about looking up to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the great joy of what awaited Him, chose to surrender His will to reconcile us to our Heavenly Father. Even in the worst of situations there is something to be thankful for.
