Have you ever wondered what sort of adventures your ancestors might have experienced or how their experiences might have helped to shape your life's path?My summers were spent forty miles west of Okeechobee in the small town of Lake Placid, where Daddy perched a cabin on "Lake-June-in-Winter". Water skiing was the first order of the day. My father would pull me behind our ski boat just before the sun rose above the orange groves that surrounds the southeast end of the lake. This was the beginning of a perfect day for us. At that time of day, the east edge of the lake was always as smooth as glass and I felt as if I were one with the birds that soared in the heavens above.But my story begins long before this, with tales of villains, real pirates, stolen gold and real cowboys and Indians. These are stories of real life events and family happenings that I have collected and stored over the years. All of these stories are based on truth, but some are "dressed up" a little. It has been said, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story"-anonymous. My stories have been on tapes, in notebooks, on scraps of paper, as well as in my head for years. It has finally come time for them to break out and spill over the pages of this book before I am literally consumed by them.
