For instance, we learn as a toddler that if mommy says do not take the cookie, if we just say that we did not take the cookie when we really did, mommy will be ok with what she does not know; we learn that if we lie, cheat or steal we may not be caught if we do it right. We learn the ways of the world quickly and for all of our lives on earth, but in order to have the renewed mind, we must admit that our ways are not like God's ways - our thoughts are not like His thoughts. We need to admit that we need a savior - we are evil in our hearts and we need a savior.
