This study uses the work practices of the Public Relations Department of the Legislative Assembly of Paran (Alep), in 2014, which produces journalistic content for the institution's website, to outline the services provided to the population and identify whether the work is journalism, press relations, or source journalism, taking into account current Brazilian legislation, the use of digital technologies, and the institution's editorial profile. The work draws on contemporary discussions of journalism and government press relations, such as data-driven journalism and plural journalism, with the aim of demonstrating how important source journalism is to the informational context of what is public, enabling the practice of the profession by these multifaceted branches to be more democratic.
