In 1775 a Regimental Store was established at Williamsburg. Virginians enlisted in their home counties, marched to Williamsburg and camped, and were outfitted from the Public Store. The Journal is the ledger of that activity, an accounting of the units in Williamsburg in the early part of the War for Independence, showing the hats, shoes, clothing, tools and tents they needed. It is an invaluable historic document.
