Joseph Fram is a noted psychologist and administrator, now retired, who was the Superintendent of Yakima Valley School for 22 years. He is the father of two children and the grandfather of four. He now resides in Spokane, Washington. When Joe suffered through his diagnosis and painful treatment of cancer and then his subsequent divorce, his faith in God and his determination to live the life God had promised him brought him through a journey of hope, healing and help, which he now shares, with a little humor. Anyone who has suffered loss and relied on God for strength can identify with Joe's heart-felt poetry, and will be helped by the encouragement he offers.

I bought this book for my children as a way to get to know their Grandfather's "true" heart. Although I am no longer a part of this family, there is one heart I will always treasure, respect and adore; that of this amazing painter of words. I was blessed beyond words to be able watch this man as he cried, prayed, denied, fought for truth and grace, asked "why" over and over again; yet his heart ALWAYS found its way back to laughter. He was more than my Father-n-law,... he was my "friend", my mentor. He was the closest any man came to filling my own father's shoes. I have note pads upon note pads of his scribbled poems he would jot down while walking blindly into one of life's newest journeys. I have kept each one safely tucked away and on a few occasions when my children or I have stumbled over stones on our own life's journey, I have brought them out to find a poem written by one of the two greatest hearts I ever had the pleasure of "really" knowing. Each poem would help all of us understand: today we may be dealing with heartache but that heartache WILL go away and eventually we WILL find our laughter once again. My children are young adults now and one is preparing for her stay at the university for the next 8 years. In her bag of important items I want her to take- will be her Bible, her picture of her family, her prepaid credit card and this book. There's not another man who can walk you through deep heart-rooted pain in one sentence and bring you back to the uncontrollable side splitting laughter in another. It's amazing what the "power" of the written word can do. I would recommend this book and all of Joseph' Fram's books of poetry to everyone who's searching for their heart in a world where it's SO easy to lose it. With deep sincerity.

I really enjoy reading Joseph Fram's poems. He gets to the heart of the matter, whether it be about healing or death or love, and his subtle humor makes me smile again and again. Each poem is an example of well-written contemporary poetry.
