I learned a lot about Middle East history of conflicts
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 16 years ago
Very good written book, just enough for the beginner to learn about the complexity of Jordan and the neighboring countries in Middle East conflicts. I thought that I can learn about politics of Middle East from the news, but news only talk about current event in a very superficial way. This book brought a right perspective into Israel-Arab conflict. It does focus on Jordan, but Jordan history is so inter-related to other states, that I learned about lots of different aspects of the Middle East history. Yes, the author sometimes express his opinion which brings extra flavor, but usually relly on the facts only. I read this book in two afternoons, it also contains series of wonderful photos from Jordan from the beginning of XX century. All the books from the series "Creation of the Modern Middle East" has the interesting essay about the Arab/Muslim culture in the introduction. These books for young readers are good for everybody - young and old.
